Gérard Depardieu to be village idiot in Ipu – Convicted to Live

Screen legend Gérard Depardieu has begun work on the Romania-Germany co-production Ipu – Convicted to Live, directed by Romanian Bogdan Dreyer.

Based on a novella by Romanian writer Titus Popovici, the film is set in a small Transylvanian village during World War II.

The production started at the beginning of September in Sighisoara, the medieval town in Transylvania, chosen for its atmosphere frozen in time

Prima variantă a filmului „Ipu“ a fost lansată în anul 1972 şi se numea „Atunci i-am condamnat pe toţi la moarte“. În rolul principal a jucat Amza Pelea, dar printre actori se mai regăseau Iurie Darie, Gheorghe Dinică şi Sergiu Nicolaescu.
